Description: SS Ramleh, the largest ship built by Harvey & Co, leaving Hayle in 1891. The ship was owned by W Wheatley & Co from 1891 to 1904, by Christian Salvesen, South Georgia, from 1904 and 1916 and Petersen & Co from 1916 and 1918. On 18 September 1918 from the Tyne to Genoa with coal, bricks and steel, the Ramleh collided with the Danish Steamer Nordamerika 62 miles North of Tenes, Algeria. Total loss. Shipbuilding ceased in Hayle in 1893.
