Item: Church Cove on the Lizard
Description: View of Church Cove on the Lizard peninsula. The small steamer at sea is the 'SS New Resolute' which has landed tourists by rowing boat and is awaiting their return. Many Falmouth tugs served as excursion steamers and ran trips to the Helford and Lizard. At Church Cove the visitors were landed at Battleship Rock, in the centre of the photograph, at low tide and had to scramble to shore over slippery rocks.
