Item: The Wilton and Nicholls trade stand at the 1949 Tresco Horticultural Show
Description: The trade stand Wilton and Nicholls of Penzance put in the1949 Horticultural Show on Tresco. In the early 20th century, 18 Market Jew Street comprised a smart hardware shop with extensive premises towards Bread Street owned by Walter Henry Nicholls which became Wilton and Nicholls Ltd. It sold everything the householder might need. Enter the shop, ask for a thingamajig for the wassicall and the product would be produced in record time, advice dispensed and the item wrapped in brown paper. When this shop closed suddenly in the 1980s many townspeople felt they had lost a friend.
