Item: Penzance Railway Station Advertising Boards 1890.
Description: A photograph of the advertising board outside Penzance Railway Station featuring adverts from Israel Oppenheim and the Castle Line, with an unidentified boy facing the camera. Oppenheim's sold furniture, carpets, drapery and other items of soft furnishing and were located on The Terrace in Market Jew Street and also in Bread Street. Donald Carne and Co was Castle Line's local agent for sea passages to the Gold Fields around the Cape of Good Hope. George Fox of Falmouth would give a free booklet to those interested in buying a return sea voyage for 12 guineas which included a rail fare to London and a night's accommodation.
