Identification
Item: The Lizard Lighthouse with its keepers' cottages
Description: The Trinity House lighthouse installation at the Lizard comprised two light towers either side of a terrace of keepers' cottages. Set on an approximate east-west alignment, this view is taken from the western tower looking eastwards across the roofs of the houses. The light in the western tower was removed in 1903 when the character of the lighthouse was changed from two fixed lights to one flashing light in the eastern tower. Trinity House buildings were always kept spic and span but the cleanliness of these roofs suggests that this photograph could have been taken soon after the houses were built. The original keeper's cottage was built against the western tower but the researcher has not been abe to date this.
