Description: The Newlyn Lugger PZ11 'Flying Scud' in Penzance Harbour. The 17 ton 'Flying Scud' was 45.6 ft long and owned by Jacob Kelynack and Williams Badcock. Skipper: Francis Badcock. Before 1869 she was registered under the former Penzance registration letters PE. She was broken up in 1893. Primitive painter Alfred Wallis sailed in her as a boy. He painted a picture of the lugger when he was an old man and wrote: "This is The numBer That i was in aBout 65 wears ago i was seasick i never Eat anything unTill we got to scarBro". The Cornish boats sailed to Scarborough to fish the North Sea herring season.
