Item: Porthgwarra Cove
Description: Porthgwarra Cove. Two small fishing boat lie on the granite stone slope with lobster pots piled up on the left-hand side. A fisherman leans against his boat to the far right. The tunnel was drilled by St Just miners c.1890 to improve access to the beach and was used by local farmers with horse and carts to collect seaweed for fertiliser. The two holes in the granite became one when dividing granite eroded away due to bad weather in 1996.
Condition: Good - slight discolouration and a medium amount of foxing to the top edge of the photograph.
