Description: JR Branwell's 'Penzance steam flour mills' at Vellanhoggan, Gulval. This is a view looking from Branwell's Lane. Three unknown men stand on the road, one with a dog. Some young trees have recently been planted. Within the mills was an engine and boiler house, a tower capped with a water tank after the fire of 1865, a wheelwrights shop and stables that housed 24 horses. In 1883, there were three engines producing 210 h.p and a 50 h.p water wheel. With a workforce of 26, the output was 1000 sacks per month.
Condition: Good - discolouration to the top and left edge of the photograph.
