Item: Hawker or fish jouster with donkey and cart
Description: A hawker or fish jouster with his wooden cart drawn by a donkey. They stand on a built-up granite pavement just outside a store, at an unidentifiable location. The Jouster's cart was widely used from the 1860s to post WW1. A stone on the near wheel and wooden blog (a trig) on the far wheel keep the cart stationary. 'A Fish Sale on a Beach' - Stanhope Forbes' shows the jousters carts in the background.
Condition: Good - slight fading to the right edge and a very small amount of foxing to the bottom right-hand corner.
