Item: Thatched Houses, Newlyn
Description: Church Lane in Newlyn town looking towards Well Cottage. The Chartist William Lovett was born in one of the cottages on the left which were demolished in order to build, at a cost of £5,014, the Centenary Primitive Methodist Church in 1927. The cottage on the right, the last thatched one in Newlyn, belonged to W H Mann and burned down in 1938. The road is now Gwavas Road leading to North Corner. In the far centre right is Antoine Villa on Chywoone Hill. The white wall on the right was in place in 2009.
