Identification
Item: Steam Coaster "Llandaff" ashore at Nanjizal Bay.
Description: Early Steam Coaster "Llandaff" completed in 1865 for a group of Cardiff merchants by Schlesinger Davies & Co of Wallsend. On 27 April 1889 wrecked at Nanjizal Bay near Land's End in fog while bound from Sheerness for Cardiff in ballast. The ship was refloated on 5 May and towed to Penzance for repairs. She was wrecked again at Bude on 2 November 1899 in a NW gale on a voyage from St Malo for Swansea. She was towed off, but was a total constructive loss and was towed to Cardiff for scrapping. Among the '"Llandaff's" original owners was J T Short of St Ives.
