Item: 'SS Patroclus' grounded at Barrowhill, Isle of Portland in 1907.
Description: 'SS Patroclus' aground at the Isle of Portland on 19th September 1907 with coasters, including a Thames barge, removing cargo to enable the ship's salvage. She was aground for 8 days with the first and second holds flooded, but was salved and brought to Liverpool. 'SS Patroclus' had sailed from Brisbane for U.K. with a general cargo and 60 crew. She was built in Belfast in 1896 and was one of the Blue Funnel Line ships, which bore classical Greek names.
