Item: Adolf Vinnen, The Lizard. February 1923.
Description: The Adolf Vinnen, was a new ship built for Vinnen Bremen by Krupps of Kiel in 1922/3. She was 2000 tons and fitted with an ex-U boat diesel engine and an unusual 'jackass rig'. On 9 February 1923, she sailed in ballast for Barry Dock. At 17:30 on 23 February, she was driven ashore near Bass Point, Lizard. The Lizard lifeboat was launched and 17 crew were rescued by breeches-buoy. Captain Muller and his officers remained on board to be rescued the next day. The wreck remains near Bass Point.
