A space for all

Built in 1865, as the home of the Branwell family. Penlee House is home to many paintings by members of the Newlyn School. It is also home to the Penzance Natural History and Antiquarian Society collection.

Item: Two men sat on Doble's Wall, St Ives, overlooking the harbour, a spot well known for chatting

Description: From left to right are the Shore Shelter Lodge, the Lifeboat slip and winch, Luke, blacksmith's shop, Fore Street Primitive Methodist Church, Chy an Chy and the corner of Fore Street. Doble's Wall fronts Catherine Trevorrow's shop which sold everything from sweets and boot laces to buttons and groceries. The smart clothes indicate that this could be a Sunday.
