Description: This is a postcard of Penzance, the main street of Penzance. The shop blinds are down ready for trading Symonds, to the left of the Humphry Davy statue, where Humphry Davy served an apprenticeship, is covered in advertising material. The hoarding outside Symon’s Chemist’s advertises the Jarvis Building built in 1893; West Cornwall Steam Laundry which opened in 1901 and was renamed in 1905 Penzance Sanitary Steam Laundry; Taylor’s Cycle Department is pre 1906; Symons Cough which traded until 1936; Oxo; Chester Nicholls was a florist here from 1900 to 1911. The cabmen’s rest has a glass roof at this stage.
