Item: Market Jew Street, Penzance
Description: Left to right are Heard and Company’s piano shop; Market House with Lethby’s Bazaar at the junction with Arcade Steps. Lethby’s was a stationer’s shop in 1896, in 1897 it was the Lethby Exchange, in 1896 Lethby Bazaar and it closed in 1919. The piano shop on the left at 101 Market Jew Street is Heard & Company who opened in 1897, moved to larger premises in 1904 and opened as Isaac Fuzzey on 14 December 1905. Note the absence of a 2-way traffic system; the bow window on the left, railings and the steps into the street are the same as in 2013. The card was produced after 1900.
