Item: Penzance, St Mary's Church
Description: Designed by Charles Hutchens of St Buryan to replace the existing Church, St Mary's was a Chapel of Ease built between 1833 and 1835. Previously Penzance people had to go to Madron Church for weddings, funerals, etc. The foundation stone was consecrated by the Bishop of Exeter. The tower is a landmark for those at sea. The building behind the tree is the Branwell House, home to the Branwell sisters, mother and guardian of the Bronte children. The imposing building on the right is the vicarage.
