Item: Penzance Promenade and Pavilion
Description: This picture was taken after 1911 when the Pavilion on the left was opened. The promenade extended from Wherrytown to Battery Rocks with plans to extend it to Marazion. The Borough Council had grasped the importance of the hospitality trade and worked with the railway companies to bring visitors to Penzance all year around. The Winter Gardens in the Pavilion provided a garden, even in the rain!
