Item: The harbour, Newlyn
Description: All three trawlers have their trawls hanging up to dry. This practice finished about 1960 with the advent of Courlene trawls. The lifeboats pictured here were soon afterwards replaced by much safer inflatable life rafts. Left to right are two ex Royal Naval motor fishing vessels; William Stevenson; Jack and Eric (later renamed); Excellent.
