Identification
Item: The Aftermath of the Ash Wednesday Storms
Description: This looks like the entrance to the Bedford Bolitho Gardens following the devastating storms of Ash Wednesday 1962. The calmness of the sea here contrasts with its violence in the preceding days which all but destroyed this area. The heaps near the centre were stone shelters, rubble covers flower beds and neatly laid paths.
