Item: Daylight reveals the destruction wreaked on Penzance Promenade by the Ash Wednesday storm
Description: The people of Penzance try to come to terms with the consequences of the Ash Wednesday storm. The low tide indicates a spring tide and this may have been taken during a lull on the morning of the 7th March. Under the control of the Borough Surveyor, Peter Tresidder, repairs were effected so that Penzance would be open for the summer season. This is one of a series of photographs by the Richard Brothers commissioned by the Council to record the event. The Borough Surveyor commissioned E Ford to take a separate set of photographs.
