Item: Scillonian III moored off Lighthouse Quay
Description: It looks as though the ship is brand new. The number of people around suggests that it was the time when she was opened for public viewing. The writer remembers this as a lad. He was very impressed by all the new and shiny paintwork, woodwork and brass fittings. The cars on the quay include a Morris Oxford, a Ford, a Rover, an Armstrong Siddeley and a Vauxhall Wyvern. Scillonian II was built by J I Thorneycroft of Woolston, Southampton and Scillonian III was built in Appledore in 1977.
