Item: The Great Western Railway double-decker bus
Description: A Great Western Railway bus crowded with passengers, awaits departure from Penzance railway station. This bus service was the first in the country to be run by GWR starting on 7 August 1903 and was used between railway stations and on possible future train routes. By the late 1920s these buses were carrying over eight million passengers around the Duchy. In 1929 Western National took over all these bus routes.
