Item: The Scillonian leaving Penzance for the Isles of Scilly
Description: The Scillonian , official number 79115, is pictured backing away from the Extension Pier in Penzance on a fine day with a wisp of steam wafting from her funnel. Note the heavy black belting'around her bows which was intended to take some of the wear and tear of berthing against the unyielding granite piers of Penzance and St Mary's harbours. Note also the plated hull section on the main deck promenade opposite the engine room access doors. It is difficult to see whether she has the larger enclosed wheelhouse of her latter years.
