Identification
Item: The blacksmith's shop at Buryas Bridge towards the end of the 19th century
Description: This is an early photograph of Buryas Bridge with the blacksmith's shop on the left and a metal wheel on the path. Buryas Bridge is a hamlet SW of Penzance on the A30 to Land’s End. It is near Kerris, Lower Drift, Tremethick Cross, Tredavoe and Trewidden. Left to right is a large bush, a three chimneyed house with a lean-to and a farm gate to its left, wood stacked outside; a narrow road lined with tall trees; a stone wall or bridge with two or three arches. Presumably this property was demolished when the road was widened.
