Identification
Item: Parish Church, Penzance.
Description: Dedicated to St Mary, and situate in Chapel Street. it was opened in 1835, and was built on the site of an ancient church which was pulled down for the purpose. This ancient church was almost demolished by the Spaniards in 1595. The present structure will seat 2000 persons. it contains some interesting relics of the past which were transferred from the older building upon its demolition to make room for the new.
