Item: Market Jew Street, Penzance.
Description: The principal street of the town. The fine building in the centre of the picture is the Corn Exchange. Its classical portico and conspicuous dome give it a very imposing appearance. From the top of the dome one may obtain grand views of Mount's Bay and the region round about. The white marble statue in front represents the inventor of the miner's safety lamp, Sir Humphry Davy, who was born in this street in 1778.
