The first performance in 1931 was a production of Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'. At the time this picture was taken Rowena Cade and Billy Rawlings had built granite walls, an access road, car park and a flight of 90 steps up from the beach. When Billy died in 1966 the only granite seat was inscribed as a memorial to him.
