Item: Miss Marie Tregenza of Mousehole
Description: Pictured here is the fiancée of the photographer, Miss Marie Tregenza. Thie photograph was commissioned for the Penzance Town Guide 1950. The Minack open air theatre perched on the cliffs at Porthcurno. The first performance in 1931 was a production of Shakespeare's. 'The Tempest'. At the time this picture was taken Rowena Cade and Billy Rawlings had built granite walls,an access road, car park and a flight of 90 steps up from the beach. When Billy died in 1966 the only granite seat was inscribed as a memorial to him.
