Item: Gurnard's Head
Description: Gurnard's Head West View. This aspect of Treveer Dinas, pictured from ground level, shows the dramatic rise of a dinas or castle on the extremity of the headland. The location and structure compare with the other Treryn Dinas near Porthcurno. The iron age fortification contained 16 huts, its earlier name being Y Nae meaning desolate place. It had 2 ramparts, 3 ditches and a rocking stone. The headland has eroded with time.
