Identification
Item: The view towards Penlee Point from the Bolitho Gardens at Wherrytown
Description: This photograph could have been taken for a tourism guide or for a postcard to promote Penzance as a seaside tourist destination with parks and gardens and a warm winter climate. The dracaena trees suggest a tropical climate beside the sea. The raised seating area commanded a superb view over the Bay. The Bolitho Gardens were opened on a former industrial site in 1916, and were destroyed by the Ash Wednesday storm of 1962.
