Item: The fountain in Morrab Gardens, Penzance
Description: The cast iron fountain includes reliefs of cherubs riding tortoises, dolphins and all sorts of creatures, real and mythical. The water jet is an otter holding a fish. Penwith District Council refurbished the fountain, coating it with zinc, 3 coats of black epoxy resin and applying gold leaf to the fish and orb at the fountain's head. Originally the water was sourced from a natural spring above Causewayhead.
