Item: The sea water drains away leaving a boat high and dry in a Newlyn lane following the Ash Wednesday Storm of 1962
Description: Penzance Borough Council commissioned the Richard Brothers to photograph the devastation caused by the Great Storm of 1962. This photograph shows the damage caused by the Ash Wednesday Storn of 1962 in the lane leading from Tolcarne to New Road, Newlyn . "Born(e) landward by the storm, a boat ends up jammed in a Newlyn Lane outside N H Peake's workshop," wrote the Cornishman. Following the Borough Surveyor's report, repair work along the devasted sea front was carried out immediately so that the area would be ready for the summer season.
