Identification
Item: Ladies or Laddettes?
Description: All is surmise about this picture. The healthy bloom on the 3 pairs of cheeks could indicate bal maidens dressing up as their male counterparts. As far as we know, women were not employed underground in the tin mines. So it is thought that these ladies in their filthy trousers, stained blouses, metal helmets with candles and the shiny laced shoe are trying to make people laugh. The background, with its interior door, has not been identified either.
