Item: Gunwalloe Church, Gunwalloe, Cornwall.
Description: Named after a 5th century Breton saint, Gunwalloe Church is the only church in Cornwall located on a beach. The earliest mention of a church here, comes from 1332, when it was called a chapel connected to Breage. The early church stood by the holy well, but no trace of the well remains. Its popular nickname is the The Church of the Storms. St Winwaloe was born in Brittany around 460AD. Churches dedicated to him are found throughout Cornwall, Devon, Wales and Norfolk. St Winwaloe's successor also travelled to Britain. Source: Britain Express.
