Item: Penzance Harbour Departure for the Isles of Scilly
Description: Passengers boarding the RMS Scillonian for the Isles of Scilly from the South/Extension Pier Lighthouse, Penzance. The RMS Scillonian was built by the Ailsa Shipbuilding Co. Scotland. The Isles of Scilly Steamship Co. took delivery in 1926. She carried 400 passengers and cargo and was later renamed 'The Peninnis' in 1955 in anticipation of the arrival of the second Scillonian in 1956. The Lighthouse Pier is an extension to the South Pier and completed by 1855.
