Description: Born in 1796, this well known character of Mousehole was given the title 'Great Authority' because of his great age, lively memory and his ability to tell interesting tales. His recollections of the Napoleonic Wars and the arrival of the news of the Battle of Trafalgar were among his repertoire. (Taken from 'An Artistic Tradition' by Jonathan Holmes).
