Item: Mousehole Harbour c.1920s
Description: A photograph looking across Mousehole Harbour. To the left: PZ 634 'Hopeful' built as sailing lugger at Porthleven for Joseph Cowls & John Eddy of Porthleven. 1900 sold of Thomas Matthews of Mousehole, fitted with a 26hp motor in 1915, broken up in 1927. On the right is PZ26 'Emblem' built Porthleven 1914, 40.8ft length,30hp engine, owned by JE & R Hicks & R. Sleeman. 1920 lengthened to 53ft and fitted with 30hp and 26 hp engines. In 1930, the Emblem was lost by fire near the Wolf, while heading for lining ground off the Bishop. Her crew was rescued by the motor lugger 'Orion'.
