Item: View of the celebrated Logan Rock with the machinery erected for the purpose of replacing it.
Description: On the 8th April 1824, Lieutenant Goldsmith and the crew of the local revenue cutter dislodged the Logan Rock and, following public outcry, were forced to replace it in its original position, at their own expense! It was necessary for them to construct gantries and a complex system of pulleys to put the stone back in position. This is one of a series of six etchings depicting the events.
