A space for all

Built in 1865, as the home of the Branwell family. Penlee House is home to many paintings by members of the Newlyn School. It is also home to the Penzance Natural History and Antiquarian Society collection.

Troika vase

Large, tall, square form vase with shouldered neck and differing abstract designs on each side. Glazed in green with orange and brown areas. Made by Alison Brigden (later Strutt), who was a potter at Troika from 1976 to 1983, having joined straight from school. She was Head Decorator from 1981 to 1983. She was Mark 23.

narrow necked cylindrical vase with tapering base. The Neck and base have a blue glaze, the main body is decorated with a band of large brown spots intersected by horizontal and vertical ivory, orange and green lines. Made by Holly Jackson (later Burgess). She was Mark 33.

Square from case with open top and differing abstract designs on each side. Glazed in blue with brown, buff and green areas. Made by Marilyn 'Murphy' Pascoe, who had attended Redruth College of Art and worked at Chelsea Pottery. Worked at Troika from the late 1960s until 1974.

Turkish medal

Turkish medal, one of five medals won by Seaman Joseph Trewavas. Has a red and green vertically striped ribbon, angled at the bottom. On the front of the medal is a picture of a cannon and flags with the words 'Crimea 1855' underneath. On the reverse is a laurel wreath and Turkish writing.
