IDENFIFICATION
Full Name: coronation mug
Brief Description: ceramic mug commemorating the coronation of George VI, designed and modelled by Dame Laura Knight. The design includes the Royal coat of arms and a small portrait of King George and Queen Elizabeth, with an elephant to the right of the portrait and a knight on horseback to the left. "MAY 1937" is printed in orange at the top and "CORONATION KING GEORGE AND QUEEN ELIZABETH" is printed in blue at the bottom.The handle is designed in the shape of an animals' head and has painted detailing. On the base is George VI's monogram with "R.D.NO 814375/6 DESIGNED AND MODELLLED BY DAME LAURA KNIGHT.D.B.E.R.A." printed above it and Laura Knight's signature printed below.
