A space for all

Built in 1865, as the home of the Branwell family. Penlee House is home to many paintings by members of the Newlyn School. It is also home to the Penzance Natural History and Antiquarian Society collection.

  • Arty Afternoons: Leaf Garlands

    FREE family activities take place every Saturday; drop in anytime between 2.30pm and 3.30pm. The Lamorna artists were fascinated by the woods and trees in Lamorna Vallery.  Come and see which seasons you can spot in the paintings and create a garland of leaves to wear ready for autumn.  

  • Penlee Baby Sensory

    Free, drop-in session for babies from birth to crawlers. Come and experience the amazing artworks whilst exploring sensory play together in the Gallery.

  • Arty Afternoons: A Souvenir from Penzance

    FREE family activities take place every Saturday; drop in anytime between 2.30pm and 3.30pm. Have a look at the amazing collection of Penzance Goss souvenirs and create your own from modelling dough.  

  • Arty Afternoons: Barrel Stencils

    FREE family activities take place every Saturday; drop in anytime between 2.30pm and 3.30pm. Have a go at making a rubbing from the pilchard barrel stencil in the Museum and then create a stencil to use over and over again!  

  • Penlee Baby Sensory

    Free, drop-in session for babies from birth to crawlers. Come and experience the amazing artworks whilst exploring sensory play together in the Gallery.

  • Litttle Penlee Explorers

    Join us to explore, play and create at Penlee House!  With activities throughout the galleries, these free, drop-in sessions are for under 5s and their grown-ups. Monthly on Mondays, 10am-12pm.

  • Arty Afternoons: Colourful Troika

    FREE family activities take place every Saturday; drop in anytime between 2.30pm and 3.30pm. Troika pottery was made in Cornwall and was decorated with geometric shapes.  Use shapes and colours to create some alternative Troika designs.  

  • October Half-Term: A Press of Pilchards

    Fishing for pilchards was one of the main jobs in the late summer and autumn in Victorian Nelwyn, a job which was sometimes painted by the Newlyn School artists. Come along and celebrate pilchard season by making a fan of shiny pilchards. Open to all ages and no booking is required!

  • Arty Afternoons: Roman Mosaics

    FREE family activities take place every Saturday; drop in anytime between 2.30pm and 3.30pm. See the piece of ancient Roman flooring from Pompeii at Penlee House and create a mosaic tile using ceramic mosaic squares.  

  • FREE Public Guided Tours

    Our team of Volunteer Tour Guides will be offering insights into the current exhibition through a program of short guided tours. Tours will be offered at 11.00 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
