Full Name: charcoal drawing
Brief Description: A charcoal portrait (head and shoulders) of an elderly man, looking to the left with his right hand up to his chin, with back shading. He has a beard and wears a dark jacket. There is a watermark on the paper 'MBM (FRANCE)'. On the reverse side is a faint outline and drawn eye of the same face. The inscription 'WT' does not match Frances Ellis's initials, suggesting this drawing was produced by someone else, perhaps a student of the same Forbes' School of Painting.
