Item: A Cornish Litany
Description: From Ghosties and Ghoulies and Long Legged beasties and things that go bump in the night, Good Lord deliver us. This is one in a series of 12 postcards published in 1923 demonstrating a wood cut design of the Cornish Litany. The origin of the litany could be English, Scottish or Cornish. It is a post reformation prayer, recorded orally, in which there is a question and a response. This card has a couple in a four poster bed, the lady with her hair on end whilst strange creatures emerge from the blanket box and come in the door. The prayer is printed on the front with pretty Christmas border.
