Item: Hawkes, Farm, Penzance
Description: Hawkes Farm in Alverton, Penzance originally had land extending to the sea. At one time, it was owned by Madam Woodhouse, by Admiral Pellew, Viscount Exmouth from 1765 to 1770 and by Richard Hawkins Esq in 1864. The cottage continues to look very much like it does in the picture. How much the land in front has sunk can be seen by the level of the road above it.
