Item: Penbrea Road, Penzance
Description: Treneere Estate, part of the national scheme for housing improvements, was built in the 1930s as a model estate with large houses and flats, large gardens and near to the town of Penzance. The avenue here is a bridleway leading from the beach at Chyandour to Mousehole Harbour. It is said that mules used to bring goods to the Treneere Manor House this way and that tin from the mine to the left of the picture would be exported the same way. In 2013 the stones surrounding the trees are still in place. The metal window furniture of the houses has been replaced with plastic. This photograph was probably commissioned by the local authority.
