Identification
Item: An elevated view of Penzance Railway Station looking west.
Description: A photograph looking down onto Penzance Railway Station with GWR carriages at the platform. The goods shed to the left was added in 1937 together with a new roof to the station and a small shelter on the pavement could sit 4 or 5 people. There are a mix of gas and electric lights on the pavement and petrol pumps which would have been Rubery's Garage. All coaches are GWR as British Rail First and Standard Class coaches were not introduced until 1951. The goods sheds were demolished on 13 March 1987. See also 1989.534a.
