A space for all

Built in 1865, as the home of the Branwell family. Penlee House is home to many paintings by members of the Newlyn School. It is also home to the Penzance Natural History and Antiquarian Society collection.

Friends of Penlee House Lecture: The Cornish Fishing Industry in Archive Photographs

The Cornish Fishing Industry in Archive Photographs. A talk by John McWilliams. A look at the Cornish fishing industry of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in contemporary art and photographs.

John McWilliams has published a number of books on the history of the fishing industry in Cornwall and Brittany. He was a member of the photo history group at Penlee House Gallery & Museum and has a wide knowledge of the extensive archival resources
