Description: Two boats in the foreground are, to the left, Leonard Hicks motor tripper boat, 'Bonnie Jean', the second on the Isles of Scilly after Albert Poynter's 'White Hope' acquired in the early 1920s. And to the right, is the Le Conquet crabber, 'Chevalier d'Assas' LC 4066 built in 1909 and bought second hand for Le Conquet by Emile Lombart in 1923. She was damaged in a storm in January 1924. Two Le Conquet boats were arrested on the Isles of Scilly in May 1925, fined and their catches confiscated. After this, very few Le Conquet boats came to the UK. The 'Chevalier d'Assas' was named for the 18th century French military leader, killed in battle in Germany. The boat was sold as a pleasure boat.
