Item: Newlyn from Paul Hill, Cornwall.
Description: A photograph looking across Newlyn from Paul Hill, with a man with a horse and cart in the foreground, two people wheeling bicycles in the middle distance and two cows in the road. From left to right: West Terrace Trinity Methodist Church (1832); Passmore Edwards Art Gallery (1895); and 'Bridge House' (1896). To the left of Paul Hill (but out of view in this photograph) were fields known as 'Parc Saundry'. While there is a large orchard to the right, the nearest farm to account for the cows on the hill is at Tredavoe. The two cyclists' costumes are of a fashion popular between 1900 to 1910, with the lady on the pavement wearing "bloomers".
